Vital draw at Hellingley

East Newport Cycle Speedway Team secured a vital league point racing at Hellingly last Sunday being the 14th September.

The Eastenders faced an uphill battle to secure any points from the fixture following the late withdrawl of one of their leading riders [[&]] having to race on the tight circuit. The early races were evenly spilt with the side matching the home team in every department, but an exclusion for the Eastenders in the seventh race gave the home side a narrow interval lead.

Following the break the Eastenders failed to reduce their arrears finding themselves seven points down with only two races remaining. Race victories in the last two heats saw the team secure a vital draw. Even though a draw is an excellent result a fall for Neil Power whilst leading the fifteenth race [[&]] some poor decisions by the match referee proved costly to the team. The side now need to win their three remaining league matches to win this years South West Division one title.
