2009 Club Championship Results

East Newport Cycle Speedway Club held their 2009 Club Championships on Sunday 1st November. With the weather forecast not looking at all good for the match to proceed, and after some hard work by track staff the Championships got underway with the under 8's, 10's and women's.
 
Sean Bennett came home in 1st place, 2nd place was Richie Morrison, 3rd Nicky Goward, 4th Eistyn Lewis, 5th place went to Ieaun Andrews who was racing in his 1st ever match. The under 10's was won by Tudor Coombes with Liam Morris in 2nd. Sharon John won the woman's event followed by Tania Smith who took a nasty fall in her 2nd ride.
 
Then it was the turn of the u12's, u14's and u16's. Danny Oliviera ran out u12's winner, Khalid Mitha 2nd, Adil Mitha 3rd. Under 14's winner was British u13 Individual Champion Louis Harvey, 2nd William Oliviera, 3rd Josh Davis. Aaron Hughes came home in 1st place in the u16's, 2nd Ryan Lewis, 3rd Dan Bock.
 
Finally with the track in perfect condition the senior category took place but with many riders unable to take part due to work or injury some juniors doubled up to take part in this the senior event and didn't disappoint.
 
With two runoffs required the 1st being for 4th place was between Ryan Lewis and Louis Harvey after both tied on 16 points, Ryan winning from start to finish the second was between Ryan Hughes and Neil Power both riders finishing on 19 points. With Ryan leading from the start Neil made a great pass on the pits bend to take the lead and go on to win his first East Newport Championship,
