Go-ride/Clubmark Cycle Speedway Club East Newport hold one of the biggest annual Cycle Speedway events ever to be held in Wales this coming Sunday 13th September at Larch Grove Playing Fields Underwood, The British Team Championship's Semi Finals and Final.
British Cycling who gave this prestigious event to the Welsh Club where more than happy that they could put on a great show for the four competing teams Wednesfield, Poole, Horspath and Stoke.
When East Newport Secretary Mr Rob Absalom was told of the Club receiving this major event a few months ago he said: We have only been going 4 years this October and to think that British Cycling has awarded us this event is fantastic news, we have been very busy over the last few weeks upgrading our track facilities and making sure everything is in place for this prestigious event and I would like to thank British Cycling for having the confidence in us holding this top event, and to all the Club members who have worked so hard to make this day possible.
The Mayor of Newport Mr Glyn Jarvis will be guest of honour and we would like to thank him very much for attending Sunday's proceedings, and also to the Newport Gwent Dragons cheer leaders Dragons Claw who will be performing before the Grand Final.
The entertainment gets underway at 11am with the first Semi Final between defending British Team Champions Wednesfield against Poole, then at 12:30pm the second Semi Final Horspath against Stoke. The Final will take place at 3pm.
