TWITCHERS HOPES DASHED

2010-01-31 22:00 by Tony Bennett

Costly errors, more than skill or speed, decided the outcome of today's indoor match at Newport.

Twitchers United were hoping to win a third match but exclusions for a stoppage, the crossing of a start lane and running with a bike saw their hopes dashed.  Also, the successful pairing of Rob Absalom and Gilbert Davis was split to aide their clearly unwell team-mate, Aaron
Hughes.

The Ginger Hob Nobs tried to capitalise on their opponents' mistakes but the under-strength side lacked the vital sharpness that they have shown in previous matches.  Young Sean Bennett suffered severe cramp in his second ride and this contributed to his under-par performance in the other two heats.

Heats three and six saw Ian Sizer excluded, for crossing the starting lane and legging. Though he gated extremely well in his other rides, the exclusions finished any chance of his team winning the match.  The win for the Frame Benders proves, without doubt, that you have to be in the competition to win!
