East Newport first team manager received the great news yesterday that former Welsh International Neil Power has got his racing licence and has come through training with amazing results.

Neil has joined the top Welsh club with a view to competing in the first team in the South West which is a great benefit to the club. Neil told club PA officer Gilbert Davis "ever since I quit Newport in the 90's I always hankered for a comeback at some point. I considered it about 18 months ago but the time wasnt right. Now I feel I can commit to this club and they have welcomed me with open arms and I'm really touched by that" Gilbert asked if Neil will be growing his trademark mullet which he sported in his early years "Well you never know I might do. At least I still have some hair"

Other news for the club is the date for the refixutered away match against Hellingly has been scheduled for 14th September. A bus has been booked and with so many riders all clambering for a ride in the team selection is going to prove hard for team Manager Nigel Clark. Nigels new bogey told the website "I should be picked coz I keep beating Nigel in a race and I'm sure I could do 5 rides"
