I was very pleased to hear from former Langstone Eagle rider John Moore on Friday and had a fascinating chat about how the Langstone Eagles formed and how they built their track.

The gentleman kept me captivated with his memoirs and I have to say that on face value, the comparisons that can be drawn between our club at East Newport and the Langstone Eagles are in abundance.

We both had to work very hard to build our own facilities, develop them and we are both are very proud of what we achieved. Nothing has or was handed to us on a plate and this sheer hard work and true grit determination was rewarded with clubs that remained friends throughout.

We have been invited to thier club reunion and I'm sure we will be there to meet these true Veterans of Welsh Cycle Speedway. I know that in years to come our club members will remain close and our reunions will be just as anticipated and the memories we carve now will always be good ones.
